Reading Volunteers Needed
Our school is excited to implement the STAR reading tutor program this year. The program was developed by the Utah State Office of Education and supports the Utah Language Arts Core Standards. The purpose of STAR is to provide additional reading practice for students reading below grade level. Students meet with an adult volunteer one-on-one for 30 minutes twice each week using a series of targeted reading lessons. Volunteers will be taught many strategies that would be beneficial for helping any beginning reader.
We are searching for several adults who would be willing to volunteer either once or twice (preferred) a week for a minimum of 30 minutes. If you, or someone you know, is interested, please click here to fill out the attached form.
We are also working in conjunction with Weber State to offer this as a work study position. If you know someone who qualifies for WSU work-study, have them apply on the WSU job site.
Walk to School Day
This year we are excited as always for our walk and bike to school day. Parents walk with your child or bike with your child to school.
If you would be willing to volunteer at walk to school day please call or text: Michelle Bandley @ 801-388-8837
We look forward to having the students participate in this event!
Room Mom Request
We are looking for volunteers that would be interested in helping out this year as room moms. We are trying to get one head room mom for the full grade, and then additional room moms for each class this year. We are hoping that this will help ease the stress of being the one and only person trying to organize everything. We are reaching out to you before back to school night in an effort to be able to start early on the class baskets for the fundraiser this year, so that we will have a little bit of a head start since the fundraiser will be earlier than it has in the past, September 8th.
Please, we can use all the help we can get. If you are interested, please feel free to contact Shauna Dabb @801-389-6528
